The North Tower
Apparently sometime soon the U of A will have a new logo. Somehow incorporating the North tower of Old Main.

How that will be different from the current logo (which is one of the old main towers) I have no idea.

Mt. Sequoyah
I didn't really realize that the hardest part of this goal (posting once every weekday) would be coming up with something to say in each post. I've still got plenty of ice storm pictures, but nothing really more to say about the storm other than I'm over weather in which ice is a possibility. Bring on the spring.

Before the rain
It's things like this that make me thankful I take my camera to work every day. I had never seen a full rainbow before last week, but it's a pretty amazing sight. All I have to say now is... I wanna know where da gold at

Do the Hustle
Well I didn't have time to do more HDR's for today, but I am still posting! So I'm still on par for the goal. Last night was a busy night. Jess and I started our Latin Dance class last night which was quite fun. I have a feeling once we start getting into more than the basic box step I'm going to have real problems. Even with it being the first day with the simplest dances I had problems trying to talk while dancing.

West Ave
It wasn't until looking at this picture that I realized that at one point we had a tree leaning on our house. How did I miss that?

Regardless, this was a good day on West Ave - the day we got our power back.

The Ice Path
There was nothing about this walk to Old Main that looked familiar. In fact if you asked exactly where I took this picture I'd have to stop and think about it - it normally looks nothing like this.

It's just a little water ya'll
As much of a pain as the ice storm was, it was definitely more good than bad (for me). I got out of 4 days of work, got to build a fire and have s'mores (indoors), got to go visit family, hang out with Jess, go sledding, play with a chainsaw, and spend the good portion of an afternoon walking around taking pictures of the ice. I took enough pictures to fill the next many, many posts with ice storm HDR's. But they're time consuming so I probably won't. But I'm going to try to do at least 5 of them to make it through this week. The first is from the aforementioned Hillcrest Towers. (As always, click the picture to see a larger version)

The Glorious Hillcrest
I've posted pictures from the top story of this building numerous times, but you have yet to see the Hillcrest in all it's magnificent glory. I'm still not sure what it is, but I'm fairly sure it's a place where sick and/or poor people live. A quick google search reveals that during the late 90's someone would push people out of their windows there - which kinda creeps me out.

From 2.3

But it's still my favorite place to take pictures.

The lonely street
Since we've lived in West Ave it's been a tradition that if we get enough ice/snow that we think school will be canceled we head down to Dickson St for a few drinks and more importantly, to watch people slipping and sliding all over the place. Last Monday night was just such a night, only it was just Taylor and I that braved the icy rain.

From Sunset

We stopped by Brewski's to grab a drink and for once the music wasn't turned up so loud you couldn't talk. No doubt due to the fact that there were only 4 of us in the bar.

The Goal
I've been pretty terrible at updating this blog - especially lately. So I have made a goal for myself of posting once every weekday for the rest of February. What this means is you'll probably be getting some mediocre pictures, but that's my goal and I'm sticking with it. This week's theme will be long-exposure pictures. Next week will be ice-storm HDR's. So stay tuned, and update you own blogs for pete's sake, I'm getting bored over here!

From Work Sunset 1.7.09

This was taken outside my office on a day I had to stay at work late. I always get a few funny looks when I pull out a tripod and set a $150 point and shoot camera on it that even a child can use, but I've gotten more and more used to that.

On a lighter note, it was actually at this very spot where I saw a student carrying a boom box blasting the song "Listen to your heart" at full volume (the classic version, not the new techno one). It made my day.
