I think more than almost anything, I want to be able to say this.

The Weekend Recap
Rising at dawn and then proceeding to run 3.1 miles hardly seems like the ideal Saturday. But Cal and I made the trek, and kicked some butt.

Even girls with rockin legs stood no chance against us

At age 24 a spring Saturday without a wedding is more rare than not. And thus started the trip to Branson. An awesome day for a drive through the twisting hills of Northern Arkansas with the windows down and the sun shining. And honestly where else in the world can you find convenience like this?

I mean really, usually you have to go to at least 2 stores to find both these things.

Oh glorious Branson, endless hours of family fun await.

But not for me, not today, I had a wedding to attend... or so I thought.
Turns out at 24 a spring Sunday is a prime time for a wedding as well. And when you lose your invitation and ask the wrong guy when the wedding is, be prepared to drive two hours to find an empty parking lot. But no matter! Branson has something Fayetteville does not... outlet malls, motha f'in outlet malls.

I got my shopping on for a few hours, and ended up with a pretty sweet (and fairly cheap) suit from Banana.

It looks like this, only I have a full head.

Let there be light
I realized two things yesterday

When you buy an 8 dollar and 47 cent lamp from target

That's exactly what you get.

The second thing I learned is without a level or proper tools, you should probably have maintenance come and hang that cork board rather than trying yourself.

The geese

I find that geese's opinion of me is highly influenced on whether or not I have bread. I forgot my bread on this day. They did care that I was there.

Sandwiches
I read a quote today that really made me stop and think, and I'm not sure why. It's so simple and obvious but I just really liked it. A musician from the 70's named Warren Zevon was on the David Letterman show in 2002 after being diagnosed with inoperable cancer. He announced it on the show and Dave asked him if he had any parting words. He said:

"Enjoy every sandwich"

Foxy

This is my neighbors dog foxy. Moving subjects are very difficult to deal with, especially when they just want to lick you.

Sky where there should be none

Here lie the remains of another fond childhood memory that now only exists in my mind. The 4 large trees in my front yard were great fun back then. We would climb as high as we could, and just hang out up at the top of the trees. Our perfect vantage of the neighborhood. It was only a few months ago the ice storm came that destroyed them. The house no longer looks the same. The neighborhood no longer looks the same.

"I'd like to go by climbing a birch tree
And climb black branches up a snow-white trunk
Toward heaven, till the tree could bear no more,
But dipped its top and set me down again.
That would be good both going and coming back.
One could do worse than be a swinger of birches."

The morning bell

From the first grade through the sixth we gathered around this bell every morning to say the pledge of allegiance. Rain or shine, hot or cold we all came. In a single file line, with the line leader at the front, talking only when the teacher wasn't paying attention. It seemed like a weird concept at the time, but looking back on it I kind of like the idea. When I went back to take the picture everything was exactly how I remembered it... just much smaller.
